Agartala, the capital of Tripura, one of the north-eastern
states of India, is amply rich in flora and fauna and is therefore, a mini
storehouse of abundant cultural diversity. Agartala gained prominence when
Maharaja Krishna Manikya shifted his capital here in the 19th century. Agartala
commands one of the loveliest State Assembly and many spectacular lakes in
different parts of the city, which have been attracting numerous tourists
all round the year from India and abroad.
