Warangal was prominent as the "Metropolis of the Kakatiya Dynasty", and the temples constructed during their reign are dazzling examples of the Chalukyan style of architecture. Another important historical monument constructed by the Kakatiyas in Warangal, is the Fort, four magnificent gateways. The outer walls of the Fort are built of mud bricks, and the inside of the Fort is fortified by the carved stone walls.
