Mewar Festival, Udaipur

Held In the Month Of March-April it is a festival to welcome the spring season. There is song, dance, processions,devotional music and fireworks where almost everybody participates eagerly.

The Mewar festival is held in Udaipur, Rajasthan with the main objective of celebrating the onset of spring in the month of March-April. The festival is symbolic of marital happiness and the women from the nearby villages in Udaipur make it a point to participate in the festivities. The spotlight in this festival is on heavily dressed and bejeweled women who participate in a procession and carry statues of the goddess Gauri to the Lake Pichola near Udaipur, Rajasthan. Joyous diversions at this event include folk song and dance performances, music concerts and colorful display of fireworks.
