Held In the Month of July-August, it is a festival to mark the advent of monsoon. Processions, women dressed in bright colours and a lot of merriment prevails during Teej. Essentially a women’s festival, it is interesting to watch them enjoying in groups and at various bazaars where they turn up to shop in all their finery.

The women in Jaipur, Rajasthan, celebrate the festival of Teej. According to legend it is believed that on this day goddess Parvati was united with Lord Shiva after completing a penance of a hundred years. Rajasthani women believe that the invocation of Parvati's blessings on this day will lead to marital bliss. Young girls who are engaged to be married in Rajasthan receive a gift pack called shrinjhara from their in-laws. This gift pack consists of henna, bangles, a special dress made of tie and dye fabric and a sweet. The festival of Teej heralds the onset of monsoons, in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
